Ben Nevis, 18th May 2013.
Here is a video and a few pictures from our walk up Ben Nevis that we did the other day. Made it up in 2,5 hours, and the whole walk took 5 hours in total. So proud of us for making it up an hour faster than the last walk up Ben Nevis, but also for helping to raise money for Accord Hospice in Paisley, outside Glasgow. We helped raising over £2000, thanks to everyone who donated! :)

We made it!
Just a wee picture and update to let you all know we are alive. :) on our way down now. Made it in 2,5 hours up!
Here we go!
Just about to start heading for my pick up round of all my hill walkers to head towards Fort William, and Ben Nevis.
It's been a change in the line up for the walk, and our friend Carys has decided not to come with us due to sore legs. I can just imagine doing a 5-6 hours walk up and down Britains highest mountain, when you aren't feeling 100% in the body. Not the bestest feeling.
Alan's friend Ross got the opportunity to come instead, so then we were four again! So much better being four rather than three walking, so you can walk in pairs.
Anyway, that's me set to start driving now! Hopefully I will be able to upload a picture or similar during the day. And if not, I will for definitely do it tonight!

Life is all about the ups and downs.
After feeling a bit up and down lately, I feel like I'm finally back on track again! Just like anyone else, I have my bad days and weeks, and I feel like I can't be bothered with the gym, eating good healthy food, and to be my normal happy self.
But I do think it's important to experience both highs and lows in life though. You won't know what it's like to be happy, if you haven't been sad, and the other way around. After rain comes sunshine, sometimes you just have to have patience.

However, I am now right back on track, and I'm well up for what June has got to offer! I have finally got my dates set to do my courses, within my PT course, that is Circuits, Kettlebells, Suspension training, Boxing, Business and Functional Training. And I can't wait to get started!
Also, me and my hillwalking group will be climbing Ben Nevis in three days time from today! By this time on Saturday we will hopefully be down safe and sound from our walk, and hopefully beaten our last time of six hours up and down. We are still collecting money for a good cause on the charity page.

Summer of 2002.
I love living in the present, but every now and then I also love taking a trip down memory lane to remember how I felt at a specific time. I was cleaning through one of the drawers in the living room today, and found a diary I kept during the summer of 2002. I wrote in it every day during my holidays, kept track of how far we travelled, what we did, what we had for dinner, everything! I have always been quite specific about random things like that, and it's fun being able to look back on what then 14 years old Therese thought about life.
And later on that summer, me, my sister and our mum went over to an island between Sweden and Finland, called Åland where we went camping, swimming and sunbathing for a week. Such a simple and nice holiday, and I totally loved it! Åland used to be like a second home for me when I was younger, it's where I spent a lot of weekends growing up, as we used to have a caravan there each summer.
What did you do during your summers when you were younger?

To miss someone.
There are some days I can feel that I live away from my family, some days more than others. There will be occasions I miss, moments I should have been there, and days I would have needed my own family. Like the day my niece was born, or that day I got a phone call about that my grandpa had a heart attack. I couldn't be there physically for anyone in my family, and it breaks my heart thinking about it. Regardless if it's good or bad times, you still wish you could be there for everyone.
Yesterday was a tough day. Nicci, my dog back home, had to be put to sleep. It's weird, she's been around through half my life, always happy. For anyone who has had a dog, you probably know what I'm talking about. I didn't know until yesterday just how much this would affect me, and just how much I would feel.
Nicci was my little sister, and yesterday my little sister fell asleep.

Ben Nevis, 18th May.
Alright people, it's getting closer to our Ben Nevis adventure. On the 18th May me and my hill walking group are joining forces with a big group of excited people to raise money for Accord Hospice in Paisley, just outside Glasgow.
Accord Hospice helped my friend Kat's family a lot through sad times when her mum passed away. Read Kat's own story here: https://www.justgiving.com/weloveliz/
Please donate by clicking on the "Donate" button at the bottom of the page that opens, when clicking on the link above.
Any amount of money counts. Either choose the set amount of money to give (£10, £20, £50, £100), or choose own amount by writing the amount in the box. You can pay money in either by debit/credit card, or over PayPal. And if you don't want your name shown, you can donate anonymously.
Thank you all for taking time to read this, and thanks to anyone donating. The count down for Ben Nevis has officially started!

Be grateful.
Sitting in the airport waiting to board my flight. It's going to be a long day, two flights ahead of me, and several hours in airports. But I don't mind. I brought 4 books with me for this trip, and I'm determined to finish at least one of them before the end of today.
Travelling somewhere is kinda like therapy for me. Especially travelling alone, like I'm travelling today. It gives me time to relax, think and reflect over things in life. And when I have time alone, it gives me time realise how much I have in my life to be grateful for.
I am grateful that I have the most amazing boyfriend, family and friends I could ever have dreamed of. I am grateful that I am healthy, I have a home and that I have the possibility to travel places.
What are you grateful for today?

The importance of goal setting.
When it comes to working out, what is your goal? Is it to tone up, build muscles, lose weight? People often start going to the gym with the ambitions to achieve all that, but forget to break down their goals to more specific ones. How much weight do you want to lose? What is healthy for you? And what is your time limit for this?
I think that people often underestimate the importance of setting goals. It's what you need in life to move forward and to progress as a person, not just with your fitness and your training. It's important to set a time limit on when you want it achieved by, and make it realistic. Push yourself, make your goals big, but still realistic.
And reward yourself. Reaching a goal is rewarding enough, but boost yourself a bit extra towards reaching your goals. I usually reward myself with new gym clothes, which makes me even more excited to keep working out in the gym towards my next goal. But it could be anything, little or small. A new pair of shoes, new make up, something that you aren't allowed to buy until you have reached that goal.
Here's two pictures of me, pictures taken exactly two months apart. I'm no where near where I want to be with my body and health, but I am really getting there. These pictures just proves that goal setting, hard work and determination makes a big difference:
Don't think that I have it all figured out, I really don't, but I am working on this every day. Whenever I am near reaching my goals, I set up new ones. Always give yourself something to work towards.
This is my list of goals:

This is my list of goals:
- Cut out sugar. Sugar makes me moody, makes me feel tired and really isn't needed in my life. There's a big difference in want and need, I really don't need sugar. This goal isn't just for a time being, its something that is needed worked on every day.
- Climb Ben Nevis on the 18th May to raise money for charity. And climb at least one Munro / mountain before then.
- Have visible abs before our holiday to Sweden the 23rd June.
- Start reading more books. I've always had problems relaxing, I need to move and do something all the time. A goal for me is to be able to relax enough to sit down and read a book. It's always possible on holiday, but never at home. So this is a big one for me, at least two hours a week is a good start.
These are my goals for now, name one of your goals if you want to by pressing "comment" under this blog, post it as "name/URL" (it doesn't have to be fitness related). And remember, don't ever compete with anyone else but yourself. You can use people as inspiration, but never compete with anyone but yourself. Everyone is different, that is what is beautiful in life. We all develop, change, look and think different. So focus on yourself, and your goals.

This is my body.
(This blog is not aimed towards any individual)
Something I often get called is skinny. Last year I would have taken it as a compliment, but these days when I work my butt off in the gym, it's doesn't have the same positive effect on me. I consider my physique as being toned and strong, not skinny or thin.
Something that has annoyed me lately is how many (negative) comments I've been getting about the muscles on my arms. Either my muscles are too big, my arms are too toned, or it simply looks like I've got "man muscles". What I have replied to the people telling me this is simply that: either they are too lazy to do something about their own body so they start nagging on mine, or that they simply might be jealous that my muscles are bigger than theirs. Surprisingly, all the negative comments I've been getting has been coming from men.
Why do they think it's acceptable to tell someone this? Would it be acceptable to go walk up to a overweight person and say that he/she is fat, or a naturally really skinny person who are trying for everything in this world to gain weight, that he/she looks thin and bony? No, so why should it be acceptable to make negative comments about my toned arms?
This is my body, which I'm pretty damn proud of, and worked hard to shape. I feel amazing, and for the first time in my life I actually don't dislike anything at all on my body. I love that my body is strong, healthy and works as it should.

It's a good day, to have a good day.
Sorry for low and bad updates lately. I've been focusing all my time outside work on my Pt studies, and will do so for another week to the max as well. But after that I can promise better updates.
Had my practical Pt gym exam yesterday, and it went well. Feel really quite happy with myself, and I can notice myself how much I've learned since January.
I also want to give a big thanks to one of my best friends Carys, who was my wee guinea pig for my exam. Totally worked her to the max, and I'm pretty sure I heard her say that she hated me some time during our gym session. Haha! All good then!
No, but seriously, thank you C.

Here are a few of my favourite gym songs, that really gets me awake and pushed for a workout in the gym:

Criticism.
Something I find very important in life is to give and get given criticism. Good and bad. It's also important to learn to give and take bad criticism. How do you turn bad criticism in to something good, and how are you suppose to create the best out of it? It's important to take it to you, and to think how you can turn it to something positive. It's important that someone tell you this, so you can improve.
I was in the gym today, and in the changing room I overheard a conversation between two older ladies, discussing a class they had just been to. One of them said she went to the class to keep her fitness up, but she didn't find it particularly good. She didn't like the exercises the guy keeping the class did, and she thought the time he kept each exercise was too long.
I was so close to jump in to the conversation (which obviously wouldn't have been right), and ask the lady to tell the instructor how she felt about the class. He might think he is keeping a perfectly great class, and that everyone is happy about it. Or, he might actually be holding a perfectly great class, its just that this lady might be doing some of the exercises wrong which makes her not like them, or it makes her uncomfortable? Either way: by not saying anything, nothing is going to change.
I love hearing that I do things right. Everyone does. But I also love hearing that I do things wrong (I learn from it), how I could improve, or simply just get any type of criticism so I get the opportunity to improve. The day I start working as a Personal Trainer, when I start holding classes, or maybe even the day I start my own business, I'm going to ask people for positive and negative feedback.
It's important to hear positive and negative criticism, to be able to grow; as a person, a brand and as a business.

Exam results.
Got my exam results back yesterday, from the exams I did the other week. AND I PASSED!! Which means that I'm done with the first part of my personal training course. On to the next stage now.
Best Friday.
Think today might just be the best Friday ever. Work went great, and so did the gym. And to top it off; Craig is coming home today! Not just for the weekend, not just for a weeks holiday, he is actually coming home. After 18 months of working away, and coming home just every other weekend, he is finally coming home for good!
I can't describe how happy I am, and how lucky I feel to be able to live an every day life just like other people. Craig and I have never really had that. My shifts used to be all over the place, and I was off days Craig was working or in university, and the other way around. And when Craig was in university, he didn't finish his part time job until 8pm, so we never really lived that "normal" life, having dinners together and so on. We have always wished for that.
You don't realise how much those little things in life matter, and you don't appreciate some things until it's taken away from you.
Today is a good day. No, today is a great day. But I don't think I will understand that life from today will be different, and better, until another couple of weeks has gone by. And I will never take Craig for granted, ever.

Action creates opportunities.
I'm quite a happy person. Sure, I have my bad days too, quite a lot of them, but I don't let them take over my life. When a problem occurs in life, I try to solve it straight away. It will only take bad energy from my mind otherwise, that I could have used to create something good with.
People quite often over think things, and play up scenarios in their minds of what could happen, things that probably never will happen. But instead of going to the bottom with how they are feeling about things, or to bring up what's bothering them, they keep it to themselves and hope that tomorrow will solve it.
But nothing changes, if you don't change it. You don't get given things in life.
If you want things to change, you need to address what it is you want different, and act to do something about it. If you want a clean house, you need to clean it. If you want a new job, you need to apply for jobs. If you want money to buy something big for, you need to save up money, and stop spending money. It's as easy as that. You might not necessarily get it all straight away, but you are one step closer than you were before.
Strip off all the big worrying thoughts that you create in your mind when something negative occurs in life, get to the bottom of How to change things and act. Action creates opportunities, thinking about acting doesn't.
